Span of Possibilities

Our concept could take other forms than those that have evolved from interventions and collaboration with Hiphoppers. The concept could -as the span of the following design drafts will illustrate- be so much more than just integrated into a costumer handheld scanner in the supermarket:

Boomblaster

By moving the boomblaster with its inbuild scanner the carrier can control two musical parameters.  

• Heavyness of users walking which defines the accentuation of the beat as well as the fatness of the bass.
• The spinning that expands or limits the amount of sounds of the barcodes.  

For mobile

A piece of software for personal exploration of a new sound world. The inbuild camera functions as a scanner and the microphone lets the user provide the basic sounds from witch the algorithms feed. 

DJ  

The role of the barcode DJ is to control all the parameters of the code, while the sounds are determined by the audience feeding barcodes to barcode reader stands that are lit up.

Gallery  

Merchandize is spread out in a room that is empty besides some supermarket baskets and a classic counter.

Instrumental

The sounds are solely derived from the barcodes and the resulting music is made into a score.
